Viewing/Managing Assignments

The assignment editor makes it easy to find assignments that meet your particular needs. Use any combination of the filter criteria located at the left side of the an assignment editor to specify filter criteria for the list of assignments to show. Once you have your criteria specified, click on the "Show Assignments" link and you'll see a list of assignments that match your criteria.

At this point, you can make changes to assignments by double clicking on the assignment you want to edit, or you can remove assignments by putting a check in the checkbox for the items you want to remove.

Assignment Properties

The following are the list of properties that can be set for each assignment:
  • Assignment Name: A short name for the assignment. This name will show up in the list of assignments in the Quiz Manager as well as the Quiz Player.
  • Description: An Optional description for the assignment.
  • Quiz: Use the browse button to the right of this field to drop down a list of quizzes. Choose the quiz from the list.
  • Due Date: The date that the assignment must be completed by. If it is beyond the due date, student Quiz Players will not show the assignment in their list.
  • Attempts Allowed: The number of attempts that each assignee is allowed for this assignment. Once a student has exceeded their allowed number of attempts, the assignment will no longer show up in their list of available assignments in their Quiz Player.
  • Stop When Missed: Set a value for this field if you would like the quiz to exit if a student misses a particular number of questions or a percentage of the questions. To specify a number of questions that they are allowed to miss, put an integer value in this field other than zero. To specify a percentage, put a decimal value less than one (i.e. .5 for 50%, .15 for 15%, etc.).
  • Wait Between Attempts: Set a value for this field if you would like to force students to wait a specified number of days before they are allowed to take the quiz again.
  • Immediate Feedback: Put a check in this check box if you would like the student to receive immediate feedback as to the accuracy of their answer after answering each question.
  • Random Order: Put a check in this check box if you would like the quiz questions to be randomized each time the assignment is run. This is useful in a classroom setting so that students get the questions presented to them in a different order than their neighbor.
  • Auto Submit: Put a check in this box if you would like the quiz results to be submitted automatically, regardless of whether the student chooses to submit the results or not, and even in the case were a student quits the quiz partway through. This feature allows you to prevent students from partially completing a quiz, and then exiting out and restarting the quiz without your knowledge.
  • Available Viewers: Put a check in each checkbox in this list that corresponds to the quiz viewers that you want your students to be able to choose from on this particular quiz assignment. For example, if you are administering quizzes strictly for grading, you will typically only want to select the standard quiz viewer. However, if you want your students to be able to view the quiz as a set of flashcards, you'll need to select this option as well.
  • Assignees: To choose the students and/or groups of students, first select the Assignees item in the list on the left side of the dialog. Then, use the buttons at the bottom of the assignees panel to select the students/groups to include on the assignment.
