The Quiz Manager is where the teacher, instructor, quiz author, etc. will spend most of their time. This powerful application provides an easy to use interface for creating, editing, and printing quizzes as well as viewing and managing students and their quiz results.
The Navigator
The Navigator is located at the left side of the Quiz Manager window and provides easy access to all of the many features of Quiz Extreme. Within the Navigator are expandable items that group the various features in a manageable way. Each expandable item may also have its own tool bar buttons that apply to that item only. The following items make up the Navigator:
- Quizzes: Shows a hierarchical tree containing the list of subjects and the quizzes within those subjects. Use the toolbar to add, edit, remove, run, and print quizzes and subjects.
- Question Banks: Shows a list of the Question Banks present in the system. A Question Bank contains a simple list of questions and can be exported and distributed by the author for use by other users of Quiz Extreme. Quizzes can use questions from any of the Question Banks, as well as questions from any other quizzes in the system.
- Assignments: Provides access to the Assignment Editor which allows the teacher/instructor to assign quizzes to students or groups of students. Before a quiz can be taken by a student using the Quiz Player, that quiz must be assigned to the student or a group to which the student belongs. There are numerous settings that can be applied to assignments, so take some time to review the Quiz Assignments documentation to get complete details.
- Results/Printing: Provides access to the results of quizzes taken by students as well as other types of reports. Consult the complete Quiz Assignments documentation to learn how to work with quiz results.
- People: Shows a list of the users and groups in the system. Use the People toolbar buttons to add, edit, and remove users and groups within the system.
- Themes: Shows a list of all the themes in the system. Themes allow the quiz author to customize the colors and fonts used during the running of quizzes.
- Specialty: Provides options that are used for specialized purposes. Currently, the only specialized feature is the ability to create book lists and questions for use in preparation for the popular Battle of the Books competitions held around the country for school age children.
- Publishing: Gives the ability to export quizzes and question banks. Exported quizzes and question banks can be shared with others and imported into other Quiz Extreme systems. You can also package exported quizzes as an installable package that users can install on their system which includes the Quiz Player. See Exporting and Packaging for complete details.
Edit Area
The Edit Area is the large area to the right of the Navigator. It is used to open items being edited, as well as show report preview pages. NOTE: Any item being edited in the edit area must be saved before the changes take effect. You can tell if an item needs to be saved by looking at the top of the tab for that page. If it contains an asterisk (*) before the title, it has unsaved changes.
