The Quiz Player does not allow students to make any changes to quizzes or assignments, so this application should be used to run closes by students.
Connecting
There are two different ways to access quizzes using the quiz player.- The most common way is to have the students login using their user ID and password. Using this method, students can connect to the database on any Quiz Server accessible on their network. To do so, simply select the server from the drop-down list after launching quiz player. Then click the "Connect" button. Specify the username and password to get connected.
- The other option is to use the quiz player in a standalone environment, where it is not connecting to a quiz server. In this setting, quizzes must have been exported using the Export Wizard in the Quiz Manager. When using this method, the student will select the "This Computer" option from the drop-down list and then click the "Connect" button.
Creating Installable Standalone Player/Quiz Application
Quiz Extreme provides a way to export one or more quizzes into an installable package that contains the Quiz Player application as well. This makes it possible to create distributable versions of a quiz or group of quizzes that students can install on their computer. There are no licensing fees for doing this as the Quiz Player is free to use for any purpose you see fit.To create an installable package:
- Launch the Quiz Manager.
- Expand the Publishing item in the navigator.
- Click on the Export / Package link.
- Select the "Installable Package Including Quiz Player" radio button.
- Choose the quiz or quizzes to include in the installation.
- Use the properties panel to specify author, installation directories, splash screen, shortcut icons, etc. for the installer that will be created.
- Specify the full path to a filename ending in .exe that you want created as the installer file. A typical file name might be setup.exe.
