When working with a quiz, it is helpful to think of it as a hierarchical structure. The following list describes the basic structure of a quiz or test (there is much more to know about each item which is covered elsewhere):
- A QUIZ consists of a name, description, and a list of one or more SECTIONS.
- A SECTION consists of a name, description, and list of one or more QUESTIONS.
- A QUESTION consists of the question text, optional image/video/audio, and optional list of one or more ANSWERS.
- An ANSWER consists of the answer text or image, and whether the answer is correct or incorrect.

Example An example should help clear up most questions about basic quiz structure.
The following image is a short quiz that contains 2 true/false, 2 multiple choice, and 2 short answer questions. There are a variety of ways that you could structure the quiz, however, a common design is to put questions of the same type into different sections with special instructions for each section. The following image shows one way to structure the quiz:
Sections
A section divides the quiz or test into logical sections of related questions. Sections could be organized by the type of questions within the sections (as in our example), by question content (such as Presidents, Dates, etc.), or any other way that you can imagine. It is completely up to you. Sections have a name and other optional information such as an image/audio/video, instructions, etc.

Questions
Questions can consist of text and/or an image/video, and/or audio clip (which you can import from an existing file or record directly at question entry time). Our example uses simple text questions, however, you could add an image or video to a question to make it more interesting. For example, you could add a picture of George Washington to the question asking about the first President of the United States. Or, you could record yourself giving spelling words to create a spelling test, or foreign language words for vocabulary testing. Questions can stand alone, or they can contain one or more answers where each answer is flagged as being correct or incorrect.
SPECIAL NOTE: It is important to note that questions can be reused in any number of sections and any number of quizzes. Questions are stored in the Question Archive where they can be added to other quizzes so that you don't have to duplicate information if that information is needed in more than one quiz. Schools can use this feature to build an enormous archive of questions that all of the teachers can access and use for building their own quizzes thereby saving valuable time and effort. Teachers and homeschooling parents can use this feature to build review tests or end of the year final exams.

Answers
Answers consist of text or an image/audio clip and a flag that says whether the answer is correct or incorrect. An answer belongs to a particular question. So, if answers are changed or added to a question, all quizzes that use that question will also be affected.
